Founder and community host
Sami created Open Mic Colorado after years of hosting events and trying to keep track of where people could play, listen, and connect. He has hosted around 80 events, and built this guide with help from volunteers, hosts, venues, performers, and modern AI-assisted development tools.
The project began as the Colorado Songwriters Collective and grew beyond one community and one format. It became Open Mic Colorado in May 2026 so the name would match the wider scene it serves.
Meet SamiOpen Mic Colorado brings the state's open mics, songwriter rounds, jams, song circles, poetry nights, comedy mics, and acoustic showcases into one searchable public guide. Everything is free to browse, with no paywall, ad inventory, or data sale.
Search by date, city, and format to find the next room worth showing up for.
Hosts and venues can claim listings, correct details, and keep recurring events current.
The weekly digest highlights upcoming stages and recent community photos.
AI helps organize the volume. People keep the guide honest.
A flyer, link, social post, or host update gives the listing something concrete to follow.
Ambiguous dates and missing information are flagged for a person or the event host to confirm.
Listings show their verification state and can be updated when a schedule or venue changes.
Open Mic Colorado, Inc. is in formation as a Colorado nonprofit corporation. A 501(c)(3) application is planned, not yet granted.
The goal is a durable public resource with clear governance and no pay-to-rank or pay-to-feature system. Sponsors may be acknowledged and thanked, but they are never sold ranking, placement, or editorial control.
