Open Mic Colorado is a public directory of active live performance happenings across the state: open mics, songwriter rounds, jams, song circles, poetry nights, comedy mics, acoustic showcases, and the small community events that make up a real local scene.
Everything is free to browse. No paywall. No ad inventory. No data sale.
Colorado's grassroots performance scene is real. Finding it is harder than it should be.
Events live in social posts the algorithm buries. Listings go stale. Rooms close or move without notice. People new to a city don't know where to start, and regulars miss things because word-of-mouth is the only system.
That's the gap: a trusted, maintained, neutral place to find a stage, one that doesn't exist to keep you scrolling, and doesn't favor whoever paid the most.
A searchable directory of verified recurring events, statewide. Hosts claim their listings and keep them current. Performers find their next room. Venues show what they have going on.
The listings cover hundreds of verified series across Colorado. Browse what's live to see today's picture. We also publish a weekly digest so you don't have to check back manually.
A listing doesn't go live the moment someone pastes in a flyer. There are four steps.
AI handles the heavy lifting on volume. People keep it honest. The balance is intentional.

Open Mic Colorado is becoming a nonprofit. Open Mic Colorado, Inc. is in formation as a Colorado nonprofit corporation; a 501(c)(3) application is planned, not yet granted.
The structure will include three unrelated directors and a formal assignment of the website, data, brand, and domains from the founder to the organization, a project built to outlast any single person.
This is how you fund discovery without corrupting it. No pay-to-rank. No pay-to-feature. Sponsors are acknowledged and thanked, but never sold ranking, placement, or editorial control. That line doesn't bend.
We're currently forming the founding board. A good fit is someone who cares about Colorado's grassroots performance scene, can review simple budgets and minutes, and is comfortable with a low-commitment, well-documented governance process. Experience with nonprofits, law, accounting, or community organizing is a plus. Directors must be unrelated to the founder and to each other.

The project started as the Colorado Songwriters Collective, a way to keep track of where to play and stay connected. It grew beyond songwriters, beyond one format, and eventually beyond the name. We renamed to Open Mic Colorado in May 2026 because the name finally matches what the project actually is. Old links still work.

Built by Sami Serrag with help from modern AI-assisted development tools. The project is a practical response to real gaps in how local music events are shared and supported, and it's shaped continuously by feedback from the people actually using it.
Sami has hosted around 80 events to date, and the project would not exist without the many volunteers from the collective and the hundreds of songwriters who have shown up to contribute their time, talents, and mutual encouragement. Special shoutout to Robert Fulton Jr, who set up and hosted a year of open mics for the collective.
